Worry, anxiety and stress is something that we all go through in life. We all face different challenges and issues in life and we are not immune to problems. However, how we respond to these challenges is important. God encourages us through His word to put our trust in Him and to avoid being anxious.
Below are a few Bible verses about worry and stress and how to deal with this problem. May you find strength and encouragement through God’s word.
Read the scriptures prayerfully and allow God’s word to speak to you in this particular area of your life.
“Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? 27 Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?
28 “So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; 29 and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
31 “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.
Cast your burden on the Lord, And He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.
Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You.
And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.
2 Timothy 1:7
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
And which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? 26 If you then are not able to do the least, why are you anxious for the rest? 27 Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 28 If then God so clothes the grass, which today is in the field and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will He clothe you, O you of little faith?
So we may boldly say: “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?”
Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass.
Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way,
Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass. 8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath;
Do not fret — it only causes harm.
