Do Unborn Lives Matter?

Do unborn lives matter? Is abortion really justifiable? Why is abortion wrong?

  • Imagine if somebody tried to kill you in your sleep. Imagine yourself being killed without the opportunity to defend yourself verbally and physically.
  • Imagine that while you slept, the people who want to kill you considered your existence on this earth to be a mistake.
  • Imagine while you slept, people voted & deliberated as to whether you should be put to death or not. Imagine that even while you slept the people who want you killed believed that you are a “lesser being” and therefore your personal opinion or rights regarding your existence did not matter.
  • Imagine while you slept that the people who want to murder you thought that your existence was a hindrance to their own lives. Imagine that while you slept, the people who would desire to have you killed decided that they could not allow you to live another 9 months because your existence within those 9 months was unbearable for them.
  • Imagine while you slept that the people who would wish you dead considered you to be less than human in order to justify the terrible thing that they are about to do to you.

Whilst unborn babies sleep inside their mother’s womb there are people who plot the abortion of their unborn children. Many mothers & fathers selfishly deliberate whether to abort their children or not. Abortion is wrong. It’s not of God not matter what the laws of a country will say. The law of God stands above the man-made laws of a nation. God has a plan for unborn babies and the act of aborting an unborn baby is a sin against God.

Jeremiah 1:4,5 says “Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying: “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.”

To the people who believe that abortion is okay, it’s important to conscientise them of the following:

  1. It’s easy to support abortion when you’re not the one being killed.
  2. Take the time to remember and acknowledge that your own mother did not abort you.
  3. Would you have preferred it if your own parent(s) had aborted you – and for your potential to be born to be taken away from you whilst not having any choice in the matter?
  4. If a baby is in the womb of a woman and if that baby is breathing – then is it not alive?
  5. If a “fetus” is not alive – then why do you have to kill it?

In certain countries a person can be fined heavily for more than $10000 or face long imprisonment for killing an endangered animal. It is illegal for example, to kill an eagle egg but yet in the same countries it is okay/legal to have an abortion of an unborn child for any reason.

God clearly reveals to us that an unborn child matters and that we as people are more important than even the birds.

Matthew 6:26 says “Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?”

Are we not of more value than birds? The value of a human life is more important than any animal – yet our world has put the value & rights of an unborn animal above the value of an unborn human life.

Whilst abortionists or pro-abortion activists would disagree, the word of God clearly reveals to us that unborn lives indeed matter. God values an unborn child. The term “with child” is mentioned more than 20 times when referring to a pregnant woman. The Bible does not mention the word “fetus” at all and neither does the word of God refer to an unborn child as being inhuman until it is born.

Why Is Abortion Wrong?

  • An unborn child is not a “fetus”. It is human. The DNA of an unborn child already comes from its biological mother and father. Humans produce humans. Humans do not produce a different kind of creature. This therefore makes the act of abortion an act of killing another human being.
  • An unborn child is innocent and it is a creation of God. Therefore God has a plan and a purpose for that child (Jeremiah 1:4,5). To abort an unborn baby would be to interfere in the plan of God for that child.
  • An unborn child is made in God’s image (Genesis 1:26,27). An unborn child is therefore of more value than an animal. Whilst animals are good and important to the earth, the value of an unborn child outweighs the value of any animal (Matthew 6:26). Animals were not made in God’s image. Humans were made in His image.
  • God’s word uses the terms “child”, “son”, “daughter”, “baby”, “with child” when referring to unborn children. These terms are therefore evidence that human life is present before birth. Therefore the abortion of an unborn child is the shedding of innocent human blood.

GOD OFFERS FORGIVENESS IF YOU HAVE HAD AN ABORTION

It’s important to note that God can forgive any sin no matter how bad we think our sins are. God can forgive any person who has had an abortion.

1 John 1:9 says “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness”

God is also able to help us deal with the guilt and pain of abortion. He is also able to help us to move forward. However, we must genuinely come to Him and confess and repent.

Jesus Christ paid for ALL our sins – past, present & future. To receive forgiveness and everlasting life we must accept Jesus Christ as our Lord & Saviour.

Have You Accepted Jesus Christ? Are You Born Again Christian?

5 Reasons Why Homosexuality & Gay Marriage Is Wrong

Please note that this article is meant to speak the truth in love and help people engaged in this lifestyle to understand the unchanging, unwavering & uncompromising word of God related to the issue of homosexuality & gay marriage. It is a loving but honest warning of the spiritual dangers of homosexuality and its eternal ramifications if gay people do not repent.

Let it be understood that God & many Christians are motivated by love to teach, rebuke and guide people regarding issues such as these. God loves the sinner BUT God hates the sin. Homosexuality is a sin against God. Jesus died for all sinners and that sinners may repent of their sins (including homosexuality) and be eternally reconciled to God through Christ Jesus.

The current wave by various countries of legalizing & institutionalizing gay marriage proves from a spiritual perspective that this type of sin is not a “human / equal rights” matter but it is an anti-God issue. There are many reasons why homosexuality & gay marriage is wrong.
Institutionalization of gay marriage opens the door for a Sodom and Gomorrah lifestyle of sin & reveals the extent to which man’s rebellion against sin has reached. Sodom & Gomorrah loved, celebrated & indulged in their sinful lifestyle so much that God saw it necessary to destroy the city (Genesis 18-19).

So what are the reasons why homosexuality and gay marriage is wrong?

  1. HOMOSEXUALITY DISHONOURS THE HUMAN BODY

Leviticus 18:22 refers to homosexuality as an abomination. In other words; it is detestable; it is an abhorrence; it is a defilement to the human body. (Leviticus 18:22 – You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination.)

Leviticus 18:24 says “Do not defile yourselves with these things” – a clear reference to both homosexuality and beastiality which is mentioned in Leviticus 18:23.

Anatomically, the body was not designed for 2 people of the same sex to have sexual intercourse. Therefore the act of sexual intercourse between 2 people of the same sex physically and spiritually defiles, harms & dishonors the human body because it is against nature & therefore unnatural. It violates natural law. Romans 1:26,27 says the following “…For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. 27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another…”

1 Corinthians 6:18-19 NKJV – Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body.

Romans 1:24 NKJV – Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves

  1. GAY MARRIAGE IS ABOUT LUST & VILE PASSIONS. IT’S NOT ABOUT LOVE

The argument that the gay movement use is that if 2 people of same sex love each other then who does it harm & why should people be concerned about it. They have also argued that love has no gender and therefore 2 people with the same gender should be allowed to marry each other if they love one another.
Here’s the problem: According to God’s word, the Bible – if 2 people of the same gender engage in together in sexual relations, the motive is NOT because of love – but it’s because of “vile passions” and “burning lust”.
Romans 1:26 says that “God gave them up to VILE PASSIONS” while Romans 1:27 says that “men leave the natural use of the woman and BURNED IN LUST for one another” – indicating that from a scriptural viewpoint, homosexuality and gay marriage have NOTHING to do with true love as defined by God or the word of God.

  1. HOMOSEXUALITY & GAY MARRIAGE DEFILES THE MARRIAGE BED

Marriage was created by God to be between a man and a woman. It was not created by man. Therefore by God’s definition, marriage is not between 2 people of the same gender. Any attempt by man to institutionalize marriage to include 2 people of the same gender is an open rebellion against God.
Homosexuality opposes God’s purpose for sex because it violates the natural law and purpose of sex. Indeed sex is meant to be enjoyed. However, sex is meant to be enjoyed between a man & a woman; between a husband & a wife.
Therefore because homosexuality is a defilement according to Leviticus 18:22 the union of 2 gay people defiles the marriage bed. Any type of sexual immorality is a defilement of the marriage bed.
Hebrews 13:4 – Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge.
Furthermore, only a man and a woman who are married can become “one flesh” as the Bible states. Two men cannot be “one flesh”, neither can 2 women.
Genesis 2:23-24 NKJV – And Adam said: “This is now bone of my bones And flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman, Because she was taken out of Man.” 24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

  1. HOMOSEXUALITY & GAY MARRIAGE DESTROYS FAMILIES & FAMILY VALUES

God’s design for a family is that there be a husband, a wife and children. For a child/children to have 2 fathers or 2 mothers is a sad distortion of what it means to be in a family. It is a bad example for children. It denies a child either a father or a mother and it infects children with poor family values as they grow up. In a “marriage” where the parents are of the same gender, a child will most likely not be living with any of his/her biological parents and the atmosphere of living with 2 parents of the same gender will confuse the child morally and spiritually.
Deuteronomy 6:6-7 NKJV – And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. 7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.
Proverbs 22:6 NKJV – Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.

  1. HOMOSEXUALITY & GAY MARRIAGE OFFENDS GOD

Homosexuality & gay marriage is so offensive to God that God will not allow homosexuals to enter His kingdom. Therefore this type of lifestyle should not be taken lightly. It has nothing to do with a person being homophobic or intolerant. Homosexual lifestyle will cost a person eternal life because it is an abomination that offends God on many different levels such as God’s design & definition of sex, marriage, family, humanity and the human body.
1 Corinthians 6:9-10 NKJV – Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexualswill inherit the kingdom of God.

The homosexual lifestyle was one of the main reasons why God had to destroy Sodom & Gomorrah (Genesis 18-19). Their sinful lifestyle was so rebellious against God that they thought that the men of Sodom & Gomorrah wanted to gang rape 2 of God’s angels who happened to be disguised as men. Their rebellion had no limits.
This is the problem with homosexuality & gay marriage. It is offensive to God and God will judge and punish unrepentant actions towards this type of lifestyle.

God Loves the Sinner but Hates the Sin

God’s love and grace is extended to ALL people regardless of our sinful lifestyles. Jesus did not die for the righteous, but He died for sinners.
Luke 5:31-32 NKJV – Jesus answered and said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick.  32 I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”
Furthermore, God is just and faithful to forgive us when we confess our sins. There is no sin that God cannot forgive but He is ready to forgive us when we realize that we are sinners.

Homosexuality is a sin that God will forgive if we confess and we do not need to walk in condemnation.

1 John 1:8-10 NKJV – If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Why Is Homosexuality A Big Issue?

Why is homosexuality a big issue with both Christians and non-Christians? Why does this issue continue making headlines through-out the world and will homosexuality ever be accepted as a normal lifestyle specifically by Christians?

There is no doubt that the Biblical view of homosexuality is that this sexual lifestyle is a sin against God and that God does not and He will never accept homosexuality as being a good thing.

The Bible of course mentions that there are many other sins that God hates but in this current time homosexuality and gay marriage are the issues that have taken centre stage and because these particular issues are being debated prominently in media, politics, and law it is important to understand why homosexuality is a big deal and why most Christians are vehemently against homosexuality & gay marriage.

  1. Homosexuality Is Viewed As Not Hurting Anybody

The argument often used by gay supporters is that homosexuality does not hurt anyone, and that there is nothing wrong if 2 people (of the same sex) love each other.
The truth is, homosexuality DOES hurt someone. It hurts the very people involved in the homosexual relationship and there are physical, biological, spiritual & eternal ramifications when people openly rebel against God in order to live this kind of lifestyle (1 Corinthians 6:9).
Homosexuality also hurts the gay person because when a homosexual is involved in a homosexual relationship that person sins against his own body & his own soul (1 Corinthians 6:18).
Then why should Christians care? A Christian cares enough because he/she is motivated by love to speak the truth and to help people understand God’s love and God’s mind so that they may be saved from the deception of the devil.
Biologically and spiritually, a gay person is hurt in different ways. The Bible, history, our physiology and creation itself argue against same-sex marriage. Marriage is designed to be between a male and a female. Homosexuality & same-sex marriage goes against God’s natural order and purpose.
Genesis 2:24 NKJV – Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

A man shall leave his mother (female) and father (male) to be with his wife (female) so that the two of them (as male & female) can start their own family.

According to God’s word, only a man and a woman can become “one flesh”

God did not intend for a man and another man to become “one flesh”, nor did God intend for a woman and another woman to become “one flesh”.

Therefore homosexuality dishonors the soul and body of a person because a person does not use their body for what God originally & biologically intended.
Romans 1:24-27 NKJV – Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves… For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. 27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.

  1. Homosexuality Is A Celebrated Sin

When was the last time you heard that a husband committed adultery, and the press, the media and the celebrities applauded as “righteous” and “brave” at the actions of a man cheating on his wife.
When was the last time you heard that a loving parent was delighted to learn that his/her 17 year old child is sexually active with somebody and that fornicating is good & healthy for a teenage child?
If a person is cringing or frowning at the above examples or if one finds them absurd even in the slightest it shows that our conscious reflects that such sexual actions are neither normal no appropriate.
However, unlike any other sexual lifestyle or behavior, homosexuality is being publically promoted, celebrated and applauded aggressively by people who support this lifestyle in an effort to normalize this sinful behavior in the minds and hearts of people.
Isaiah 5:20 ESV – Woe to those who call evil good and good evil; Who put darkness for light and light for darkness; Who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!

  1. Homosexuality Is Causing Persecution Among People Who Don’t Accept the Lifestyle

There are some who accuse those who speak against homosexuality & gay marriage as promoting hate speech.
The truth is, it is the duty of every true born again Christian to speak against sin and to speak about the Good News of Jesus Christ and the redemption from sin that Jesus Christ offers us through His finished work on the cross.
Therefore a true Bible believing Christian cannot speak against the word of God nor can he/she support something that he/she knows to be a sin. Therefore because God highlights several times that homosexuality is a sin, it is the duty of true Christians to speak the mind of God regarding this issue. This is therefore one of the reasons why homosexuality continues to be a big issue. Gay supporters & Christian believers have taken a strong stance against each other and of late it’s the Christians who seem to be suffering persecution for standing in support of God’s word.
1 Peter 3:13-17 NKJV – And who is he who will harm you if you become followers of what is good? 14 But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you are blessed. “And do not be afraid of their threats, nor be troubled.”   15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear; 16 having a good conscience, that when they defame you as evildoers, those who revile your good conduct in Christ may be ashamed. 17 For it is better, if it is the will of God, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil.

  1. Homosexuality Is Being Normalized & Desensitized Through Film & Media

Films & other various forms of media are being used in order to “normalize” and desensitize people’s perception of homosexuality & gay marriage. Not only are adults the target but also children are gradually becoming targeted in order for children to accept homosexuality as a normal lifestyle as they grow into adulthood.
1 Corinthians 6:9 ESV – Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality
The truth is, in God’s eyes, sin is sin. Homosexuality is such a huge problem to the human condition that the Bible says that people who “practice homosexuality” will not inherit the kingdom of God.
This is another reason why homosexuality is a big issue. Attempting to normalize homosexuality will never change God’s view of this sin. In fact, according to the Bible, homosexuality can cost a person’s place in the kingdom of God. This is why Christians warn people of the spiritual dangers of homosexuality.

  1. Those Who Accept & Agree With Homosexuality Are Seen As Progressive People

Not only has the secular world accepted homosexuality & gay marriage but very slowly and gradually there are apostate pastors and apostate churches that are coming out in support of homosexuality. Such apostate pastors & churches are readily seen as being “progressive” and “tolerant” in the eyes of the world and gay supporters while Christians who oppose are denounced as homophobic & intolerant.
However, the Scriptures teach that Christians should not be conformed to the standards & culture of the world and its systems (Romans 12:2). Christian beliefs are governed by the word of God.
James 4:4 NKJV – Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.
There is no progressive thinking behind supporting the sin of homosexuality. Rather, whenever people vehemently support the sin nature they oppose the mind of God and cause their conscious to be seared and their mind to be debased.
Romans 1:27-29 NKJV – Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due. 28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting;

Thank You for forgiving my sins.
From this moment, come into my life Lord Jesus & take full control of my life. I want to follow You Jesus and I want to follow Your ways. Save me and from today, make me the person You want me to be.

Is Homosexuality A Sin?

Isaiah 5:20 ESV
Woe to those who call evil good and good evil,
who put darkness for light and light for darkness,
who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!

In various nations, it is increasingly becoming difficult to speak against homosexuality. The views and culture of this world is that homosexuality should be accepted as a natural and normal way of life.
Various countries have legalized homosexuality and same sex marriages and in some of these countries it has become a form of discrimination to speak against the homosexual lifestyle.
However is homosexuality natural? Is homosexuality normal? Is homosexuality a sin?

Sin can basically be defined as any type of wrongdoing against God. In other words, if God says that a certain behavior or action is wrong or bad, then that particular action or behavior can be defined as being a sin.
Sin cannot be defined through the eyes of the world or the world standards and systems. Sin can only be defined through God’s eyes and by God himself.
The world may legalize, promote and accept certain behaviors and lifestyles, but it does not necessarily mean that these particular behaviors or worldly laws are good or righteous in God’s view.
The homosexual lifestyle is such an example. Many countries are going to great lengths to promote, support and legalize same-sex marriages and homosexuality as being a normal and acceptable lifestyle that should not be condemned nor preached against. However, just because the homosexual lifestyle is legalized, it does not necessarily mean that it is not a sin against God. And just because homosexuality and same-sex marriage is legalized, it does not mean that God will not judge those who live according to this particular lifestyle.

Leviticus 18:22 ESV
You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination.

What does God say about homosexuality? Is homosexuality a sin? The Bible which is the word of God clearly and consistently tells us that homosexual activity and lifestyle is a sin.
Read (Genesis 19:1-13; Leviticus 18:22; Leviticus 20:13; Romans 1:26-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9).
In both the Old and the New Testament in the Bible, God’s word is consistent and clear in relation to His view regarding homosexuality.

Will Homosexuals Go To Heaven?
A few years ago, a certain well known preacher was asked by a TV host as to whether he believed homosexuals will go to Heaven. To the surprise of most true Bible believing Christians, this preacher responded by saying that he believed that homosexuals will go to heaven.
However, what does the Bible say? Do those who practice homosexuality have a place in the kingdom of God? Are homosexuals being judged too harshly by Christians?
ANSWER: 1 Corinthians 6:9 ESV – Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality

In 1 Corinthians 6:9, it says that we should “not be deceived”. Therefore let us not be deceived that heaven awaits those who practice homosexuality. Let us also not be deceived by anybody who tells us that God does not take homosexuality seriously as a sin. Let us also not be deceived that just because the world has legalized certain behaviours and lifestyles like same-sex marriages, that it means that God’s word and God’s law carries less weight. God’s word will ALWAYS stand ABOVE every world system and law.
God takes homosexuality so seriously that His word warns us that those who practice homosexuality will not inherit the kingdom of God. In Leviticus 18:22, God refers to homosexuality as being an abomination.

Can Homosexuals Repent & Be Saved?
ANSWER: YES!!!
1 John 1:9 ESV – If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

God does not hate homosexuals. God loves us all despite our flaws and God is readily willing to FORGIVE anyone who is living a homosexual lifestyle. God loves us – but He hates sin. Therefore God wants us to live a life that is according to His values and which glorifies Him.
God may not accept our sinful behavior, but He will accept our confession and repentance through His Son Jesus Christ.
God offers salvation, forgiveness of sins and a place in Heaven for those people who receive Jesus as their Lord and Saviour and purposefully repent from living various sinful lifestyles of which homosexuality is among the list of a sinful lifestyle.
If you have been living a homosexual lifestyle, repent today and receive Jesus as your Lord and Saviour.

SALVATION CALL !!!
GOD OFFERS SALVATION TO EVERY PERSON & NON-CHRISTIAN

2 Peter 3:9 – The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.
God offers salvation to EVERY person who has not yet become a Christian. It is God’s desire that EVERYONE should have eternal life and that EVERYONE spend eternity in Heaven with Him as long as we accept, believe, repent & receive Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour. Salvation is a CHOICE that a person must choose to want. To refuse the Biblical salvation that God offers through Christ Jesus is to choose eternity in hell (and the 4 other points mentioned above). But to choose salvation through Christ Jesus is to choose eternal life with God.

HOW TO BECOME A GENUINE CHRISTIAN
If you are not a Christian, and you want to become a born-again Christian, you can do so by confessing with your mouth and believing in your heart that Jesus is Lord and that He came to save you from the power of the enemy and so that you may have an eternal everlasting relationship with Him.

Romans 10:9-10 NKJV
that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

6 Things To Remember During Christmas

The Christmas season is a time that is celebrated by many people of different backgrounds through-out the world. It is a time in the year that is widely celebrated by both Christians and non-Christians – though perhaps for different reasons.
Whether Christian or not – Christmas means different things to different people. For some, it’s a time to do some holiday shopping; buy Christmas presents, spend time with the family or even engage in all sorts of partying, revelry and drinking.

However, if we are to study the scriptures, there can be only ONE real reason for why Christmas is such an important time to remember. That one reason is – JESUS.

Isaiah 9:6
For to us a Child is born, to us a Son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder, and His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Above the Christmas presents; above the partying and revelry; above Santa Clause; above the holiday shopping; Christmas should really be about the birth of the Saviour called Jesus and why He was born into the world.

Therefore as we celebrate Christmas, with the illumination of God’s word, let us be reminded that Jesus is the reason for the season

6 THINGS TO BE REMINDED ABOUT DURING CHRISTMAS

  1. The Miraculous Virgin Birth of Jesus – Jesus was not conceived through the seed of a man, but He was miraculously conceived from the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 1:18-21Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit. 19 And her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame, resolved to divorce her quietly. 20 But as he considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.)
  2. The Mission of Jesus – Like all of us, Jesus was born for a reason. Jesus was born into the world to save people from sin. (Matthew 1:21She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.)
  3. The Fulfillment of Prophecy – Christmas reminds us that Jesus is the prophesied Messiah. He is the one and only Saviour of the world and nobody can come to the Father except through Him. (Matthew 1:22-23All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet: 23″Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us).
  4. The Deity of Christ – We are reminded that Jesus is not just a man – but that He is God and the Word who became man in order to dwell among men – thus the name Immanuel which means God with us. (John 1:1-14 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made… 14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.)
  5. The Enemy’s Attempt to Destroy God’s Plans – Herod attempted to destroy Jesus when Christ was still an infant because he was insecure and threatened by the birth of the Messiah. The enemy will always attempt to destroy what God has planned for your life or for the world. However, God is more powerful than the enemy. (Matthew 2:13-14 Now when they had departed, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, “Rise, take the child and his mother, and flee to Egypt, and remain there until I tell you, for Herod is about to search for the child, to destroy him.”)
  6. The Love of God – Christmas must remind us of the love that God has for the world. Even though we are sinners; even though we turn our back against God; God still loves us and is merciful such that He sent His Son Jesus to become our Saviour. (John 3:16-17For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through Him.)

May you and your family may be blessed and be at peace during this Christmas season and always. God bless.

Avoiding Occult Practices

Leviticus 19:31 ESV
Do not turn to mediums or wizards; do not seek them out, and so make yourselves unclean by them: I am the Lord your God.

Today many people are dabbling and engaging in all sorts of occult practices such as divination, astrology, voodoo, witchcraft and the like.
In an attempt to search for answers to life’s challenges; or to search for riches; or to search for power; or even to search for vengeance, many people have sought the occult practices as a means by which to accomplish their goals and objectives in life.
However, the problem with performing and participating in occult practices is that
(a) Occult practices and participation are dangerous
(b) Occult practices and participation can be very subtle and deceptive
(c) Occult practices and participation is demonic and satanic and is a form of idolatry
(d) God strictly forbids all forms of occult practice
Those who practice the occult open themselves and their lives to demonic activity, demonic possession, and oppression.
Occult practices such as tarot cards, astrology, voodoo, contacting the dead, fortune telling, divination etc. are to be avoided by both the Christian and also the non-Christian.

What is Occult?
The word Occult is a Latin word which means “hidden, secret or mysterious”. Therefore one could define Occult as using secret, hidden supernatural knowledge and practices such as witchcraft, voodoo, divination etc which have been forbidden by God in order to achieve an objective.
Dictionary.com defines Occult as being “of or pertaining to magic, astrology or any system claiming use or knowledge of secret or supernatural powers or agencies”

Deuteronomy 18:10-13 NIV
Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, 11 or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. 12 Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord, and because of these detestable practices the Lord your God will drive out those nations before you. 13 You must be blameless before the Lord your God.

VARIOUS TYPES OF OCCULT PRACTICES

Below are the various definitions of occult practices as outlined in Deuteronomy 18:10-13.

1. Child sacrifice – This is a secret practice in various countries where witchcraft and all forms of satanism and sorcery is practiced. It involves the shedding of young and innocent blood.

2. Divination – this is the demonic contrast to the true Biblical definition of prophecy. Therefore while the gift of prophecy is a gift which originates from the Holy Spirit, the act or divination originates from the demonic and is a counterfeit ability to true Biblical prophecy. Divination is man’s attempt to know the future and discover hidden knowledge apart from God through using false prophets, dreams, astrology, fortune telling, consulting familiar spirits, reading omens and the like.

3. Sorcerer – a magician; a conjurer; a charmer; an enchanter; one who practices magic arts and sorcery. He charms, with an intent to do harm, to entertain, to gain money or to deceive or pervert the mind. A sorcerer is able to perform signs and wonders which appear miraculous but yet these signs and wonders originate from the demonic.

4. Interprets omens – This is an attempt to seek hidden knowledge and meaning through signs, stars, events, animals, objects and the like.

5. Witchcraft – this is a form of sorcery. Witchcraft involves the manipulation of things, situations or people in an ungodly manner. It can involve the use of magic arts, spells, or charms. In some cultures witchcraft is a religion or it is part of a religion. It also involves the use of formulas, chants, incantations to practice sorcery; Its goal is to produce extraordinary effects through the invocation or aid of demons; It attempts with the aid of the demonic to control things, events and people of whom one should have no natural control of.

6. Casting spells – The Hebrew word chabar literally means one who ties knots. It refers to a person who ties up or binds a person by means of magic spells, chants or words spoken against the particular person. It would include such things as voodoo and various forms of word cursing spoken to bind people or to hurt people.

7. Medium – This person can sometimes act as a mediator between the living and the dead. He is a necromancer; therefore he calls up the dead and the medium himself can be possessed by the supposedly dead and become a gateway by which the living speaks to the dead. They do not actually speak to the dead however, but it is familiar spirits or evil spirits that mimic the dead whom they speak to.

8. Spiritist – One who consults with familiar spirits; one who has hidden knowledge through demonic means.

9. Fortune Telling – a type of divination. An attempt to learn hidden knowledge, discover the future through such examples as palm reading, tarot cards, etc. It is also done through the spirit of divination and generally the goal of fortune telling is for monetary gain.

HOW TO BE FREE FROM OCCULT PRACTICES

The issue of how to be free from occult practices is another topic on its own which requires a lot of detail to explain. God-willing I will have an opportunity to write about it soon. However below is a brief summary of scripture that explains how we can become free from occult practices. Dabbling in the occult is a sin against God and God offers His forgiveness and we must be willing to truly repent and forsake occult practices in our lives.

(A) THE TEACHINGS AND THE TRUTH OF GOD’S WORD CAN SET YOU FREE. Do not believe the lie and the promise of occult doctrine and occult practices. Rather believe the truth of God’s promises which are found in His word. (John 8:31, 32 – So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed in him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, 32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”)

(B) JESUS WHO IS THE WAY, THE TRUTH & THE LIFE CAN SET YOU FREE. Jesus and His word are one. You cannot separate Jesus from His word. Jesus died on the cross and shed His blood for us so that we would not have to be slaves to sin or to occult practices. We must become followers of Christ who are willing to believe and obey His word and who are willing to yield to the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives. (John 8:34-36 – Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin. 35 The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever. 36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.)

(C) YOU MUST REPENT, FORSAKE AND REMOVE ALL FORMS OF ITEMS THAT BELONG TO THE OCCULT IN OUR LIVES. If we are to be free, we must repent, remove and destroy all things that pertain to the occult. We must never refer to them again or even refer to people and books that glorify occult practices. (Acts 19:19-20  – And a number of those who had practiced magic arts brought their books together and burned them in the sight of all. And they counted the value of them and found it came to fifty thousand pieces of silver. 20 So the word of the Lord continued to increase and prevail mightily.)

If you know you have been involved in the occult, repent and become a genuine active follower of the Lord Jesus Christ. True deliverance is not found by your own effort or power, but it is found by the finished work of Christ Jesus on the cross and the blood He shed (Revelations 12:11 – And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death.)

God’s View of Same-Sex Marriage

Throughout the world various countries are beginning to gradually accept not only homosexuality – but also the idea that it is okay for homosexuals to marry one another.
Both homosexuality and the idea of same-sex marriage are a sin against God and they do not promote Biblical values. Gay people and gay supporters have even become as bold as to suggest that if anybody does not accept homosexual behaviour or homosexual marriage that such anti-gay people are infringing on their human right and are promoting hate speech. God speaks against the homosexual lifestyle.
Therefore, the issue of homosexuality is neither a human right nor can speaking against it be considered as hate speech because homosexuality and gay marriage is an unnatural behaviour which is against God’s creation laws and against God’s word.

The Bible, history, our physiology and creation itself argue against same-sex marriage. Marriage is designed to be between a male and a female. Same-sex marriage goes against God’s natural order and purpose.
Here’s why:

Genesis 2:24 NKJV
Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

  • Marriage is a union that God Himself created. Marriage was not created by man, but God created marriage for His glory and for man’s benefit.
  • However when God created marriage, he created this union to be governed and defined by Godly parameters, boundaries, guidelines and rules. Therefore, man does not make up His own rules pertaining to the institution of marriage, but it is God who makes the rules as to how marriage should be defined because it is God who created the institution of marriage. (see Marriage & Divorce Bible Verses)

Biblical marriage can be defined as the lifetime union of a man and a woman, primarily for the purpose of building a family and providing a stable environment for that family.

According to Genesis 2:24 a man (male) shall be joined with his wife (female) and they shall become “one flesh”.
A man shall leave his mother (female) and father (male) to be with his wife (female) so that the two of them (as male & female) can start their own family.

  • According to God’s word, only a man and a woman can become “one flesh”
  • God did not intend for a man and another man to become “one flesh”, nor did God intend for a woman and another woman to become “one flesh”.

Genesis 2:18-23 NKJV
And the Lord God said, “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.” … And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place. Then the rib which the Lord God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man.
And Adam said: “This is now bone of my bones, And flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman, Because she was taken out of Man.”

  • When Adam was the only human that existed, God did not decide to make another human who biologically and physically was identical to Adam – instead God made Woman – who was physically and biologically different from Adam.
  • When Adam was created, he was created from the dust. But when the Woman Eve was created, God took a portion out of Adam in order to create Adam’s wife.
  • God created Woman for Adam so that Adam would be complete and one flesh with her. God created for the man “a helper comparable to him”. This is what marriage means to God.
  • In the beginning, God did not create another male “helper” for Adam, but God created a female helper for Adam
  • The first thing that Adam acknowledges and declares when he first sets his eyes on Eve is “This is now bone of my bones, And flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman, Because she was taken out of Man”. This is a clear sign in Adam’s eyes when God had presented Eve to him that Adam himself knew that he was meant to be with her as husband (male) and wife (female). A gay couple may profess love for one another, but a gay couple can never profess to be one flesh in the same way as Adam declares about his wife.

Romans 1:26-27 NKJV
For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.

Homosexuality and same-sex marriage go against God’s plan for marriage in many ways:

  • Purpose of Sex – Sexual intercourse was created by God – not by man. God created sex for both our pleasure and for procreation. This is why God created the sexual organs of a man to be different from a woman. He however created it with certain parameters or rules which are governed by His word. (see Bible Verses on Sexual Sin)
  • Physically and biologically – When two men have sexual intercourse they cannot “be fruitful and multiply” the way that God intended. Two men or two women cannot sexually reproduce together to create a new life by means of their union. Procreation is only between a man and a woman, and therefore gay marriage cannot be God’s plan neither can gay marriage be equal to God’s definition of marriage.
  • If God had intended the human race to be fulfilled through both heterosexual and homosexual marriage, He would have designed our individual bodies to allow reproduction through both means and made both means of sexual intercourse healthy and natural. Romans 1:26-27 reminds us that homosexuality is not natural and is “against nature”.
  • All of God’s creation not only speak of God’s attributes, but they speak of God’s intentions and purpose. Even the animals that God has created speak against homosexuality because every male animal needs a female animal to procreate. It would be unnatural for animals of the same sex to be sexually intimate. Why should this understanding be so difficult for man to grasp?

For those who support homosexuality and gay marriage this issue might be hard to accept. However if we read God’s word and accept God’s word over our own personal opinions, then we will realise that God’s word is the final authority on this matter. The world might create its own laws and opinions – but for the Christian believer, God has already advised us on this particular matter through His scriptures and most importantly through the physical and biological manner in which He created us. Man’s laws and opinions may change – but God’s word and God’s nature does not change. Therefore whatever is a sin in God’s eyes, shall always remain a sin – even if we change our worldly laws to suit our personal opinions.

1 John 1:9-10 NKJV
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Does God love gay people? Yes He does. God loves all of us despite our flaws and misgivings. However God does not love sin. God warns us that there are consequences when we choose to walk in sin.
God does not want sin to have control over our lives. God, through His Son Jesus Christ, wants us to overcome sin. In God’s eyes, homosexuality is a sin. He loves gay people, but He hates the sin.
Whenever we confess and repent of our sins, God is just and faithful to forgive us no matter how horrible our sin is.

Romans 5:8-11 NKJV
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.

God’s View of Sexuality

1 Thessalonians 4:3 ESV
For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality

The world and the people of the world see and define life more differently than God. Therefore in life there is always two opposing views regarding a particular circumstance or various issues in life. First there is God’s view and then there is the worldview.
For example, this is why God tells us through His word that we should “not be conformed to the standards of this world” (Romans 12:2). God does not want us to be influenced in our thinking and in our beliefs by the philosophies and teachings of the world.
God will also tell us that His “thoughts are not our thoughts” and that His “ways are not our ways” (Isaiah 55:8,9). God wants our thoughts to be the same as His thoughts. He wants us to seek after His ways and His standards.

One of the main issues affecting our culture and society where God and the world differ is the issue of SEX. The world has it’s ever changing and evolving view, while God has always remained firm regarding His view of sexuality.

The World’s View of Sexual Behavior
The World’s view of sexuality today is that

  1. It’s okay to have sex before you are married;
  2. It is okay to have sex with multiple partners;
  3. If you are STILL a virgin then you’re not “cool” or there must be something “wrong” with you;
  4. Homosexuality is okay;
  5. You need to try and experiment with sex first in order to see if you are “compatible”
  6. Sex equals love; sex increases love; you can’t live without sex
  7. Masturbation is okay
  8. It’s boring to stay faithful and have sex with only one person for the rest of your life.

God is NOT a killjoy. God is NOT anti-sex. God created sex. However, God wants sex to be appreciated and performed according to His guidelines and not according to the guidelines of the world.

God’s view of Sexual Behaviour

  1. Sex is not for the unmarried. It is only to be enjoyed among the married. (Hebrews 13:14 ESV – “Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous”)
  2. If you are married, you should not have an extra-marital affair. You should remain faithful to your spouse. (Exodus 20:14 ESV – “You shall not commit adultery”)
  3. There is nothing wrong with being a virgin. It’s perfectly OKAY to be a 40 year old virgin. If you are a young unmarried person and all your peers are having sex, it does not mean that you should follow their behavior. (2 Timothy 2:22 ESV – “So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart”)
  4. You do not need to experiment with sex. Sex is only for your future spouse. Masturbation is not God’s best – even if “you’re not hurting anyone” – you are hurting yourself – and hurting God’s feelings (1 Corinthians 6:18 ESV – “Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body”)
  5. Homosexuality is not God’s best for anyone’s life. God DOES NOT hate any people or individual who is homosexual and neither does God encourage hatred towards anybody who is a homosexual. God loves us all despite our flaws – however though He loves us, it does not mean that He has to support our bad habits or behaviors. (1 Corinthians 6:9-10 ESV – “Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.”)

God Forgives
God is able to forgive anybody who has committed any type of sexual immorality. When you ask God to forgive you, God will cleanse you of ALL sin and He will not condemn you.

1 John 1:9 ESV
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Nature of the Flesh

Romans 8:7,8 NKJV
Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

Please note that living according to the flesh is a lifestyle; it is a sinful nature that only seeks to gratify sinful desires.
When a person is not a born-again Christian, the scripture says that he/she lives according to the flesh. All those who are Christians must live according to the Holy Spirit thereby glorifying God and expressing the nature and character of God through their lives because the Spirit of God resides in them.
Living according to the flesh does not please God because the nature of the flesh is completely opposite to God’s nature.

Galatians 5:19-21 NKJV
Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

So let’s define what the nature of the flesh is like:

  1. Sexual Sins / Sexual Immorality – this includes adultery, fornication, homosexuality, masturbation and any form of sexual abuse (1 Corinthians 6:9)
  2. Impurity – this includes having an impure, dirty mindset. It includes unclean and lewd thoughts, behavior and desires. For example pornography, adulterous and other sexually impure thoughts.
  3. Idolatry – this is the worship of false gods. Anything or anyone that you glorify or adore above the one true God becomes your idol. For example those who live according to the flesh may make money their idol. (Exodus 20:1-4)
  4. Sorcery – this is when one uses magic, witchcraft or any spiritual method that God has disallowed in order to achieve an objective. This includes spiritists, mediums, soothsayers, interpreting omens and the like. (Deuteronomy 18:10-14)
  5. Hatred – this is the opposite of love. Anyone who has hatred in them does not show the nature of God because God is love. Hatred in a person can lead to many other sins. (Matthew 5:43,44)
  6. Contentions – this includes strife, arguments, and a desire to dominate and compete with another person for self-glorification. (Romans 12:18,19)
  7. Jealousy and Envy -Those living in the flesh cannot be content when someone else appears to be doing better than them in life or when other people have something that they don’t have.
  8. Outbursts of Wrath – This is when on has an uncontrolled temper, fits of rage or anger. The anger of man does not work the righteousness of God. (James 1:20)
  9. Drunkenness and Revelries – This means being intoxicated. I believe one cannot only be intoxicated by alcohol only – but this can also refer to drugs or any type of addiction.
  10. Murders – This is the taking of one’s life. Only God the Creator has the right to choose who should live or die. It can also include killing of another kind, for example, a person can kill a person’s business, or destroy one’s confidence or self-esteem. (Exodus 20:13)
  11. Heresies – An opinion or a doctrine at variance with God’s word. Those who live in the flesh do not agree with God’s word and may at times speak and argue against His word.

In Galatians 5:21, after Paul lists the various works of the flesh, he also says “and the like” in order to advise and indicate that there are more behaviors that reflect as evidence that a person is living according to the flesh.

God does not desire that we live according to the above nature of the flesh. God wants us to live according to His nature, and the only way we can live according to God’s nature is when we receive Jesus as our Lord and Saviour and then allow His Spirit to lead us.

TODAY. Live according to the Spirit of God.
