How to Overcome the Fear of Dying

When we think about fear and the various things in life that we are afraid of – there are at least 3 common reasons as to why people have anxieties and fears in their life.
1. As people we fear the things and circumstances that we can’t control
2. As people we fear the unknown and the uncertain things in our life
3. As people we fear the things and the situations that we don’t understand

Therefore when it comes to the fear of death or the fear of dying, there are many of us who have a fear of the unknown.
For many of us, death is an unpleasant thing to think about or dwell on because its unpleasantness brings with it fear and anxiety.

If ever you’ve thought about death, you might at some point have asked yourself the following questions: “What happens when I die?”; “Is there an after-life?”; “What will happen to my family and loved ones when I die?”

It’s perfectly normal and valid to ask ourselves these questions. These questions are not only normal and valid but they also need to be answered.

So, how can you be certain what happens when you die? How can you be prepared for the inevitability of death? And how can we overcome the fear of death?

Acceptance
We need to accept that in an imperfect and fallen world, death cannot be avoided. As people we experience conception, birth and then death.
So it’s important to accept that our physical bodies will eventually die. Everyone will die at some point in life.
The Bible says that it’s appointed for man to die once and then after that comes judgment (Hebrews 9:27)

Certainty of the After-life
One of the reasons why people fear death is because some of us are not sure if there is an after-life or where we will go when we die. Others might think that one just seizes to exist after death, but still this belief does not remove the fear of death.

Jesus said that He is the way, the truth and the life and that no one will go to Heaven without Him (John 14:6).
The Bible also says that He who has the Son has life and He who does not have the Son of God does not have eternal life (1 John 5:12).

Therefore you can overcome the fear of death when you know and believe that you are going to a better place – and Heaven IS a better place.
The person who goes to Heaven is the person who has trusted and believed in Jesus Christ as his/her Lord and Saviour.
Also in John 14:2 Jesus says that in His Father’s house there are many mansions or many rooms and that He has prepared a place for us who accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour and trust that the only way to Heaven is through Him.

Change Your Perception of Death
Death is never a good thing. Death came about because of the sin of mankind.
However, another way of overcoming death is to change our perception of death.
Instead of seeing death as the end – if you’re a born again Christian – death is a departure from an imperfect and fallen world and the arrival into a world that is perfect and without blemish.
Therefore the Christian believer does not need to fear death because He will be with God in Heaven where everything is perfect.
The Bible says that to be absent from the body is to be with Christ (2 Corinthians 5:8).

Conclusion
Do you have the fear of death? Are you afraid of dying? Do you know what will happen to you when you die? Do you know where you will go when you die?
All the answers to these questions come only from one Person – Jesus Christ.
The only way to have eternal life and to be in Heaven when you die is through Jesus Christ and having a relationship with the living God.
Today if you’re not sure where you will go when you die, or if you’re afraid of death – Jesus Christ can give you peace and you can accept Jesus Christ as your personal Lord & Saviour.

DO YOU WANT TO BE A CHRISTIAN or A FOLLOWER OF JESUS CHRIST???

1. ACKNOWLEDGE: “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). “God be merciful to me a sinner” (Luke 18:13).
You must acknowledge that you are a sinner and that you therefore need Jesus in your life.

2. REPENT: “Unless you repent you will all likewise perish” (Luke 13:3), “Repent therefore and be converted that your sins may be blotted out” (Acts 3:19)
Repenting means: to change your mind; a sincere turning away, in heart, mind and action;
Therefore God wants you to repent of sinful values and of sinful living. God wants you to decide to
follow Him and to make Jesus the Lord of your life.

3. CONFESSION: “If we confess our sins. He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9). “That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9)
God is a forgiving God. God will forgive any sin that you have done because Jesus died for ALL your sins and to set you free from the bondage of all types of sin in your life.

4. BELIEVE: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).
You must believe that ONLY Jesus can save you and restore your relationship with God. You must believe that Jesus is the ONLY way by which you can have everlasting life and escape from eternal separation from God. You must believe that Jesus died on the cross for you and resurrected from the grave.
“He came to His own, and His own did not receive him, But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name” (John 1:11-12)
By faith, You must receive Jesus as Your Lord & Savior and therefore; you become a child of God; you become born again; you become a Christian; you restore your broken relationship with God

Why Not Make Your Eternal Decision NOW?

We become born again Christians by GRACE through FAITH or TOTAL TRUST in Jesus Christ as our Lord & Savior (Galatians 3:26) & (Ephesians 2:8,9). Salvation is a FREE gift received through FAITH in Christ.

PLEASE NOTE: You can choose to pray in your own words. This prayer is a sample prayer and it is only an EXPRESSION of your faith, belief & trust in Jesus. Salvation is by GRACE through FAITH or BELIEVING in Christ Jesus as your Lord & Saviour.

“Lord Jesus, I thank You for Your love. I thank You that You died on the cross for me and resurrected so that I may have life through You.
I confess Lord that I have sinned against You and today I ask You to forgive me of all of my sins, past present and future.
I repent of all of my sins and I ask You to cleanse me Jesus.
Thank You for forgiving my sins.
From this moment, come into my life Lord Jesus & take full control of my life. I want to follow You Jesus and I want to follow Your ways. Save me and from today, make me the person You want me to be.
I receive You Lord Jesus right now by faith. I trust You as my Lord and Savior – Amen”

How To Stop Worrying

Did you know that according to certain experts, there are OVER 100 NEGATIVE symptoms of ANXIETY and WORRY? These symptoms can range from: numbness, chest tightness, feeling dizzy, pounding or racing heart, low energy to feeling like you are going to pass out or faint.
Anxiety and worry can make you ill.
The thing that is important to understand is that GOD didn’t physically create our body, mind and soul to become worried or anxious. We are just not made that way. Whenever we worry, we are actually starting a process of depreciating or damaging our body and mind. Worrying is ABNORMAL to our body, mind and soul hence we eventually begin to experience negative symptoms as a result.

Matthew 6:27 NKJV
“Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?”

Jesus was asking – what value do you add to your life when you worry? Will your problems magically disappear if you worried? Will the desires of your heart appear if you worried? Will you have more peace of mind if you worried?
NO!
WHY?
Because worry and anxiety is a tool of the devil to get you to focus on your problems and challenges and NOT on God who is the ANSWER to your challenges and problems.

Philippians 4:6-7 NKJV
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

The first time I read Philippians 4:6,7 was when I was a young born again teenager. I was worrying about a lot of issues in my life at that time and I was led to this verse. I PRAYED, THANKED God, made my REQUESTS as per instruction in the scripture and as soon as I finished praying I felt an unexplainable PEACE just come inside of me. I knew it was the peace and presence of God inside of me and that God had just taught me a life lesson.
God’s formula for us to have peace or an anxiety-free life is that we bring EVERY issue to Him in prayer and that we also have a THANKFUL ATTITUDE inspite of our challenges.

HOW TO STOP WORRYING
Worrying is actually a form of meditation. Meditation requires that you think about a certain issue over and over again. Therefore worrying is a form of negative meditation. The only method of how to stop worrying is by meditating on godly thoughts and God’s promises.
Philippians 4:8,9 requires that we meditate positively on the things that God wants us to meditate on.

Philippians 4:8-9 NKJV
“Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy — meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.”

So after you have prayed and given your worries to the Lord, begin to continuously MEDITATE on whatever is true; meditate on whatever is noble; meditate on whatever is pure; meditate on whatever is lovely, meditate on whatever is of good report and meditate on whatever is praiseworthy.
In other words, replace your anxious thoughts with GOOD THOUGHTS.
Replace your anxious thoughts with GOD’s PROMISES, GOD’s WORD & GOD’s GOODNESS.
Replace your anxious thoughts by reminding yourself constantly that GOD LOVES YOU, He will never leave you nor forsake you and He wants the best for your life.

Life Application
So stop focusing on your worries – and start to focus on God and His goodness.
Don’t worry but seek FIRST the Kingdom of God and HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS, and the rest will be added.
Think great thoughts; Thoughts that are praiseworthy and meditate on them and on God’s promises.

Stay Focused On Jesus

Whenever you face challenges in your life, what is the first thing that you think about?
Do you immediately begin to fear and focus on your circumstance and problem – or do you focus on the One who can give you the answer to your problem?
In our Christian walk it’s important for us to always learn to stay focused on Jesus who is the Author & Finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). It’s important that we don’t get distracted by waves of circumstances in our life but that we hold on to Jesus.

Matthew 14:29-30 NKJV

So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!”

Sometimes life is full of challenges. There are things and situations that we face that cause us to fear, worry or become depressed. However in life, we should not allow problems to paralyze us or allow them to dictate our emotions and our mission. We must be focused on Jesus and remember that Jesus can save us from our challenges.
Jesus’ disciple Peter faced a situation where his faith was tested by the situation that surrounded him.

Matthew 14:28 NKJV
And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.”

When Peter saw Jesus walking on water towards them, Peter also wanted to walk on the water, just like Jesus. We too are all called in our Christian life to imitate Jesus. Peter initially showed faith by wanting to walk on water in order to imitate Jesus. However, as Peter began to walk on the water, he started to pay more attention to the boisterous wind, instead of focusing his attention on Jesus and going towards Him. As a result, the more Peter focused on the strong wind, the more he became afraid.
Life’s challenges can do that to us at times. When we focus on our challenges or on a bad circumstance, we begin to fear, worry and doubt. God wants us to focus on Him only, no matter what challenge or difficulty you are facing. Because the more you focus on your difficulties, the more you fear and the less you focus on Jesus. Remember – only Jesus can save you.

Matthew 14:30 NKJV
But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!”

Therefore Peter began to sink because he was afraid and he also took his eyes off Jesus and focused more on the boisterous wind. Do not let your difficulties paralyze or sink you. Focus on Jesus. Give all your issues to Jesus. Let Jesus save you.
When Peter realized that he was sinking, he knew who to cry to – Peter cried to Jesus to save him. Even in your own difficulties, cry to Jesus to save you – and Jesus will save you – just like He saved Peter.

Matthew 14:31-33 NKJV
And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased. Then those who were in the boat came and worshiped Him, saying, “Truly You are the Son of God.”

TODAY. If you are going through difficulties, focus on Jesus – not on your circumstances.

How Can I Find Peace In My Life?

Galatians 5:22 NKJV
But the fruit of the Spirit is … peace …

How can i find peace in my life? Have you ever asked yourself this question? We live in a world full of strife, disagreements, lack of rest and lots of stress. It seems difficult in the midst of our circumstances to find peace.
However, what is peace? How do we find peace? The world may define peace as the absence of war; or as the absence of problems.
However, how does God define peace in a fallen world such as ours?

Peace, from a biblical perspective is a state of rest in the Lord; it is when you are in a state of calm and assurance that everything is under God’s control despite the physical and environmental circumstances.
The Greek word for Peace is “eirene”, which expresses the idea of calmness, completeness, or tranquillity in the soul that is unaffected by the outward circumstances. The word eirene strongly suggests the rule of order in place of outward chaos.

John 14:27-28 NKJV
Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

The peace that Christ gives in this world is not the absence of problems. Jesus does not promise us that our problems on this earth will seize.
However, He does promise that if we yield to the Holy Spirit and if we rely on Him, we will have peace even in the midst of our circumstances.
The peace that comes from the Holy Spirit is different from the worldly peace and God’s peace has the following attributes
1. This peace can only be provided by God and by nobody else
2. This peace continues to exist inwardly in the midst of outward chaos
3. This peace surpasses all understanding and calms the mind and thoughts of a person
4. This peace rests completely in God and trusts and believes that God is in complete control of any and every situation.
5. This peace will guard your heart and mind through Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:6-7 NKJV
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

According to God’s word, the peace that the Holy Spirit provides can only come by PRACTICALLY doing the following:
1. Do not be anxious about ANYTHING
2. Pray about EVERYTHING and let God know what is on your heart and mind
3. Be THANKFUL to God even in the midst of the chaos
4. Let God know ALL your REQUESTS
5. Completely TRUST and have FAITH in God that He will guide you through
6. Set your mind on good and righteous thoughts. Do NOT continue to focus on your problems.

Philippians 4:8-9 NKJV
Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy — meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.

Don’t meditate on your problems any longer. Whenever you focus your mind and thoughts on Godly thoughts and things, you will find that your perspective will begin to change. Focusing or meditating on Godly positive thoughts will lead you to a state of inward peace.

How can i find peace? TODAY. Receive the PEACE that comes from the Holy Spirit.

How Can I Obtain This Kind Of Peace In My Life?
In order to find this kind of peace in your life, you must become born again; you must become a Christian.
A person cannot have true peace without having Jesus in his or her life.
Jesus Christ is the Prince of Peace and the Source of peace (Isaiah 9:6).

True peace begins when I become a born again Christian.

2. REPENT: “Unless you repent you will all likewise perish” (Luke 13:3), “Repent therefore and be converted that your sins may be blotted out” (Acts 3:19)

Therefore God wants you to repent of sinful values and of sinful living. God wants you to decide to
follow Him and to make Jesus the Lord of your life.

How Can I Have The Joy of The Lord?

How can you have the joy of the Lord in your life? Is there a difference between the joy of the Lord and the joy / happiness that comes from the world?
The scriptures reveal that joy is part of the fruit of the Holy Spirit. Furthermore, the joy that is of God is far different from the definition of joy / happiness according to the world.

Acts 13:52 NKJV
And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit.

The Greek word for JOY when referring to the Fruit of the Spirit is “Chara”.

  • This type of joy comes only from God. The Holy Spirit is the source of this type of joy.
  • It is a supernatural joy.
  • This joy is not based on human happiness nor is it just a feeling.
  • This type of joy will remain and continue to exist even during hard times.
  • This type of joy will strengthen you through your trials.
  • This type of joy exists, not because of the circumstances, but it exists because of the Holy Spirit and it is part of God’s personality.

People look towards money, power, material things and various types of relationships for joy. But the problem of having such things as the source of your joy, is that such joy is short-lived and is temporary. Money can go; power can be lost; material things can burn; and if your joy is based on such things then your joy is temporary and susceptible to the circumstances.

Nehemiah 8:10 NKJV
… for the joy of the Lord is your strength.

Your joy must come from the Holy Spirit. The source of your joy must be God. Because the joy of the Lord is forever. The joy of the Lord is your strength and nobody can take this type of joy away from you.

James 1:2 NKJV
My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials,

The Holy Spirit is able to allow your joy to remain even through trials. He is able to strengthen you so that your challenges do not overwhelm you.

How to allow the joy of the Holy Spirit to work in your life…

6 Ways To Have The Joy of The Lord In Your Life

  1. You must be a born again Christian; John 3:5-6 says – Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit”.
  2. You must abide in Christ Jesus; Believe His word and totally trust in Him. In John 15:11, Jesus says “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full”
  3. At ALL times in your life, you must have a thankful attitude – ALL THE TIME. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 says “In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you”. Having a thankful attitude gets you focused on the good things going on in your life and not on your problems. When you are thankful to God always, you allow the joy of the Holy Spirit to manifest in your life.
  4. Think good and righteous thoughts. Do not worry. Don’t focus on your problems. Philippians 4:8 says “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy — meditate on these things.”
  5. Be joyful. Rest in the Lord. Give all your issues to the Lord and let God fight your battles for you. Philippians 4:4 says “Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!”
  6. You must be led by the Holy Spirit and not walk in the flesh. Galatians 5:16 says “I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh”

Galatians 5:22
But the fruit of the Spirit is … joy …

TODAY. Be filled with the joy of the Holy Spirit in Jesus’ name.
