Can A Person Be Born with the Wrong Gender?

Can a person be born with the wrong gender? Should a woman believe that she is actually a man – and vice-versa, should a man actually identify as a female?

We now live in a world that is so deceived, that even children from infancy stage can be indoctrinated into supposedly “choosing” their own gender identity.
Even the media and entertainment industry has been constantly bombarding and subliminally indoctrinating young kids to accept and normalize homosexuality and transgenderism. So children are subliminally taught by the entertainment industry that boys do not have to be boys, and girls do not have to identify as girls.
Even various famous celebrities have been on the bandwagon of promoting transgenderism by cross-dressing at red-carpet events & photo-shoots and this alone creates gender confusion to many of their young adoring fans.

According to a Health Line article, there are supposedly 64 terms that describe gender identity and expression. Therefore male and female are not the only forms of gender identities.
So according to the value systems of this world, your gender and human sexuality is no longer based on your physical anatomy and reproductive system – instead the world is indoctrinating people into believing that your gender is whatever you want it to be.

However, what does the Bible say about gender identity? How many genders exist according to the Bible? Does God create people to be born with the wrong gender?

There Are Only 2 Genders.

Since the beginning of creation, there have only been 2 genders and these genders are male and female.
Furthermore, the male and female gender were created by God Himself – and not by man.
Therefore man does not have the right to choose his/her gender. Instead one’s gender is given by God through how He has created us.

Genesis 1:27 says “So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them”.

Genesis 5:2 also says “He created them male and female, and blessed them and called them Mankind in the day they were created”.

In Mark 10:6 Jesus addresses the issue of how many genders exist. Jesus mentions that “from the beginning of creation”, God only made 2 genders – male and female.

Mark 10:6-9 says: “But from the beginning of the creation, God ‘made them male and female.’ 7 ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, 8 and the two shall become one flesh’; so then they are no longer two, but one flesh. 9 Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.”

Gender Confusion are the Fruits of a Fallen World

The deception and confusion surrounding gender terms and gender identities are the undeniable fruits of living in a sinful and fallen world.
The increasingly controversial issues of human sexuality and gender identity exist because mankind continues to reject God’s truth found in His word.

Deuteronomy 22:5 says “A woman shall not wear anything that pertains to a man, nor shall a man put on a woman’s garment, for all who do so are an abomination to the Lord your God”.

The concept that a person can believe that he/she was born with the wrong gender is rooted in the fact what we are all born with sin and it is our sin nature that inevitably leads to the gender confusion that we witness in the world today. It is our sin nature that leads us to rebel against God and commit abominable sins.

Romans 1:26-28 says: For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; 27 and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error. 28 And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done.

The world has not only embraced all kinds of sinful living, but the world is also indoctrinating its inhabitants to accept and tolerate sinful cultures.
For example, our world is increasingly discouraging the reality of manhood or masculinity. Pop culture has been consistently rejecting men and manhood by deeming any expression of masculinity as being “toxic”.
Instead we witness the entertainment industry indoctrinating young boys into homosexuality and transgenderism and this alone adds to the confusion and deception where people presume they were born with the wrong gender.

Therefore gender confusion and gender deception is a sin issue right at its core. In order to avoid such deception we must align our beliefs with God’s word; God’s truth which is found in the Bible.
We must therefore reject all manner of sin that is promoted by the systems of this world and instead embrace God’s word.

If a person feels that he/she has been born with the wrong agenda, the answer is not found through cross-dressing or transgender surgery. The answer is found through relationship with God by believing and accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. It is when we allow Jesus Christ and the word of God to transform our thinking that we can see through the deception of homosexuality and transgenderism.
We must understand that God made us all for a reason. He did not give us the wrong gender, but He assigned us with our God-given genders for a reason.
Therefore it is through a relationship with our Creator that all confusion related to our gender identity or human sexuality can be removed.

It is through our relationship with Jesus Christ who paid for our sins on the cross, that we can overcome the sins in our life that may lead us to a lifestyle of rebellion against God.

There are only 2 genders. God does not give people the wrong genders. God does not make mistakes.
