Friendship with God

John 15:15-16 NKJV
No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you.
A friend is defined as a person you know, like, trust and love; it is somebody who loves you back, knows you, trusts you and is with you during good times and bad times.
As a born again Christian, your relationship with God is not just a Master – servant relationship. Your relationship with the LORD is also a friendship. That means that you are a friend of God and God is also your friend.
Exodus 33:11 NKJV
So the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend …
If you therefore have a friendship with God, this means that you can share your life, your experience, your worries and your plans with God, just as you would with any other human friend in your life. God Himself is also able to share with you His thoughts, His plans, His ideas, His companionship with you – because you are both friends.
Moses and God were so close in their relationship that the scripture says that the Lord spoke “face to face” with Moses. Their relationship was pure friendship. It was not a Master-servant, or employer-employee relationship.
James 2:23 NKJV
And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” And he was called the friend of God.
What makes a person become a friend of God? Abraham BELIEVED God. Abraham did not doubt God’s word. Abraham obeyed God’s word – even to the point of almost sacrificing Isaac as the command of God. Abraham was close to God and walked in righteousness as a result of his faith in God.
In our own life, God also wants us to be His friend through Christ Jesus. We must also believe God and walk in righteousness. We too must be close to God just as Moses and Abraham. And Jesus being the Way, the Truth and the Life provides us with the ability to walk in direct friendship with the almighty God.
John 15:13-15 NKJV
Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. You are My friends if you do whatever I command you. No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you
HOW TO BECOME A FRIEND OF GOD
If you desire to be a friend of God, the first step is to become a Christian. When you become a Christian, you become a citizen of God’s kingdom and you become a child of God. If you are not a Christian, and you want to become a born-again Christian, you can do so by confessing with your mouth and believing in your heart that Jesus is Lord and that He came to save you from the power of the enemy and so that you may have an eternal everlasting relationship with Him.
Romans 10:9-10 NKJV
that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
