5 Reasons Why Homosexuality & Gay Marriage Is Wrong

Please note that this article is meant to speak the truth in love and help people engaged in this lifestyle to understand the unchanging, unwavering & uncompromising word of God related to the issue of homosexuality & gay marriage. It is a loving but honest warning of the spiritual dangers of homosexuality and its eternal ramifications if gay people do not repent.

Let it be understood that God & many Christians are motivated by love to teach, rebuke and guide people regarding issues such as these. God loves the sinner but God hates the sin. Homosexuality is a sin against God. Jesus died for all sinners and that sinners may repent of their sins (including homosexuality) and be eternally reconciled to God through Christ Jesus.

The current wave by various countries of legalizing & institutionalizing gay marriage proves from a spiritual perspective that this type of sin is not a “human / equal rights” matter but it is an anti-God issue. There are many reasons why homosexuality & gay marriage is wrong.
Institutionalization of gay marriage opens the door for a Sodom and Gomorrah lifestyle of sin & reveals the extent to which man’s rebellion against God has reached. Sodom & Gomorrah loved, celebrated & indulged in their sinful lifestyle so much that God saw it necessary to destroy the city (Genesis 18:1-33; Genesis 19:1-29).

 

So what are the reasons why homosexuality and gay marriage is wrong?

1. HOMOSEXUALITY DISHONOURS THE HUMAN BODY

Leviticus 18:22 refers to homosexuality as an abomination. In other words; it is detestable; it is an abhorrence; it is a defilement to the human body. (Leviticus 18:22 – You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination.)

Leviticus 18:24 says “Do not defile yourselves with these things” – a clear reference to both homosexuality and bestiality which is mentioned in Leviticus 18:23.

Anatomically, the body was not designed for two people of the same sex to have sexual intercourse. Therefore the act of sexual intercourse between two people of the same sex, physically and spiritually defiles, harms & dishonors the human body because it is against nature & therefore is unnatural. It violates natural law.
Romans 1:26,27 says the following “…For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. 27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another…”

1 Corinthians 6:18-19 NKJV – Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body.

Romans 1:24 NKJV – Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves

 

2. GAY MARRIAGE IS ABOUT LUST & VILE PASSIONS. IT’S NOT ABOUT LOVE

The argument that the gay movement use is that if two people of the same sex love each other then who does it harm & why should people be concerned about it. They have also argued that love has no gender and therefore two people with the same gender should be allowed to marry each other if they love one another.
Here’s the problem: According to God’s word, the Bible – if two people of the same gender engage together in sexual relations, the motive is not because of love – but it’s because of “vile passions” and “burning lust”.

Romans 1:26 says that “God gave them up to vile passions” while Romans 1:27 says that “men leave the natural use of the woman and BURNED IN LUST for one another” – indicating that from a Biblical view, homosexuality and gay marriage have nothing to do with true love as defined by God or the word of God.

 

3. HOMOSEXUALITY & GAY MARRIAGE DEFILES THE MARRIAGE BED

Marriage was created by God to be between a man and a woman. It was not created by man. Therefore by God’s definition, marriage is not between two people of the same gender. Any attempt by man to institutionalize marriage to include people of the same gender is an open rebellion against God.
Homosexuality opposes God’s purpose for sex because it violates the natural law and purpose of sex. Indeed sex is meant to be enjoyed. However, sex is meant to be enjoyed between a man & a woman; between a husband & a wife.
Therefore because homosexuality is a defilement according to Leviticus 18:22 the union of two gay people defiles the marriage bed. Any type of sexual immorality is a defilement of the marriage bed.

Hebrews 13:4 – Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge.

Furthermore, only a man and a woman who are married can become “one flesh” as the Bible states. Two men cannot be “one flesh”, neither can two women become “one flesh”.

Genesis 2:23-24 NKJV – And Adam said: “This is now bone of my bones And flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman, Because she was taken out of Man.” 24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

 

 4. HOMOSEXUALITY & GAY MARRIAGE DESTROYS FAMILIES & FAMILY VALUES

God’s design for a family is that there be a husband, a wife and children. For a child/children to have 2 fathers or 2 mothers is a sad distortion of what it means to be in a family. It is a bad example for children. It denies a child either a father or a mother and it infects children with poor family values as they grow up. In a “marriage” where the parents are of the same gender, a child will most likely not be living with any of his/her biological parents and the atmosphere of living with 2 parents of the same gender will confuse the child morally and spiritually.

Deuteronomy 6:6-7 NKJV – And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. 7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.

Proverbs 22:6 NKJV – Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.

 

5. HOMOSEXUALITY & GAY MARRIAGE OFFENDS GOD

Homosexuality & gay marriage is so offensive to God that God will not allow homosexuals to enter His kingdom. Therefore this type of lifestyle should not be taken lightly. It has nothing to do with a person being homophobic or intolerant. Homosexual lifestyle will cost a person eternal life because it is an abomination that offends God on many different levels such as God’s design & definition of sex, marriage, family, humanity and the human body.

1 Corinthians 6:9-10 NKJV – Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals… will inherit the kingdom of God.

The homosexual lifestyle was one of the main reasons why God had to destroy Sodom & Gomorrah (Genesis 18:1-33; Genesis 19:1-29). Their sinful lifestyle was so rebellious against God that the men of Sodom & Gomorrah wanted to gang rape two of God’s angels who happened to be disguised as men. Their rebellion had no limits.
This is the problem with homosexuality & gay marriage. It is offensive to God and God will judge and punish unrepentant actions towards this type of lifestyle.

 

God Loves the Sinner but Hates the Sin

God’s love and grace is extended to ALL people regardless of our sinful lifestyles. Jesus did not die for the righteous, but He died for sinners.
Luke 5:31-32 NKJV – Jesus answered and said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick.  32 I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”
Furthermore, God is just and faithful to forgive us when we confess our sins. There is no sin that God cannot forgive but He is ready to forgive us when we realize that we are sinners.

Homosexuality is a sin that God will forgive if we confess and we do not need to walk in condemnation.

1 John 1:8-10 NKJV – If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Salvation is a FREE GIFT and salvation it is not received by works but it is received by FAITH in Jesus Christ. It is that simple. A person must repent & by faith accept Jesus Christ as Lord & Saviour because Jesus is the only way, the truth & the life and the only Mediator between God & man.

1. ACKNOWLEDGE: “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).
This means that we have all broken God’s laws and God’s 10 Commandments like those mentioned in Exodus 20:1-17. For example, if you have told a lie; if you have stolen something; if you have lusted after somebody or if you have coveted. This means you are guilty of breaking at least one or more of God’s 10 Commandments. Breaking God’s commandments makes us sinners. The fact that we are sinners who have broken God’s law means that we are accountable to God who is the Lawgiver. Romans 6:23 says that “the wages of sin is death BUT the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord”
You must acknowledge that you are a sinner who has broken God’s commandments and that you therefore need Jesus in your life.

2. REPENT: “Unless you repent you will all likewise perish” (Luke 13:3), “Repent therefore and be converted that your sins may be blotted out” (Acts 3:19)
Repenting means: to change your mind; a sincere turning away, in heart, mind and action;
Therefore God wants you to change your mind about sinful values and of sinful living. God wants you to decide to follow Him and to make Jesus the Lord of your life.

3. CONFESSION: “If we confess our sins. He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9). “That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9)
God is a forgiving God. God will forgive any sin that you have done because Jesus died for ALL your sins and to set you free from the bondage of all types of sin in your life.

4. BELIEVE: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).
You must believe that ONLY Jesus can save you and restore your relationship with God. You must believe that Jesus is the ONLY way by which you can have everlasting life and escape from eternal separation from God. You must believe that Jesus died on the cross for you and resurrected from the grave.
“He came to His own, and His own did not receive him, But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name” (John 1:11-12)
By faith, You must receive Jesus as Your Lord & Savior and therefore; you become a child of God; you become born again; you become a Christian; you restore your broken relationship with God
