How Can We Have The Mind of God?

How can we have the mind of God? How can we think with God in relation to our life and situations?
In Isaiah 55:8-9 it says “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.”

Therefore in our practical life, we need to know God’s mind; God’s values; God’s principles and God’s viewpoint as we walk with Him.

Below are 5 practical methods in which we can know and have the mind of God in our life:

(1) We Must Meditate & Think According to What GOD has Written in His word.
In Matthew 4:4, Jesus says “… Man shall live on EVERY WORD that proceeds from the MOUTH of God”
Therefore we do not live according to every word that proceeds from the mouth of men – but we live according to every word that proceeds from God.
Man is flawed; man makes mistakes; man cannot know everything; man cannot be trusted; man does not always keep his promises. Therefore living according to the teachings and words of man instead of God can be very dangerous.
Romans 3:4 says “… Indeed, let God be true but every man a liar…”
Therefore, God is always true; always faithful; always correct; He is all-knowing; He cannot lie and His word is perfect.
For us to have His mind, we must meditate on His perfect word found in the Bible.

(2) We Must Define Words, Principles, Values & Reality According to how God Defines Them
Acts 20:30 says “Also from among yourselves men will rise up, speaking PERVERSE things, to draw away the disciples after themselves”.
The word PERVERSE is the Greek word [diastrepho] meaning “to distort; to turn aside from the right path”
Therefore be careful of men who distort God’s words or distort God’s principles & God’s defined way of how we should think.
Acts 20:30
says that such distorters will actually come from among the church and that they will distort meanings of scripture and offer different ideas and concepts that oppose how God actually thinks.
It’s therefore important to guard ourselves against false doctrines and doctrines of demons. Understanding the word of God and having the ability to discern enables us to walk in the mind of God.

(3) Yield to the Leading of the Holy Spirit
1 Corinthians 2:11 says “For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God”.
Therefore, you cannot know the things of God unless the Holy Spirit is in you. The Holy Spirit reveals to us the mind of God. The Holy Spirit reveals and guides us to all truth.
John 16:13 says “However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.”
Therefore, in our own life we must allow ourselves to be continuously filled and led by the Holy Spirit. We must bear fruit and make decisions under the leading of the Spirit of God. Being led by the Holy Spirit reveals that we indeed have the mind of God.

(4) Be Fair-Minded As The Bereans
The Bereans were “more fair minded”. The Bereans wanted the mind of God and not the mind of men.
They studied the Scriptures for themselves & they did not just take up any kind of teachings without first searching & studying the scriptures themselves.
Acts 17:11 says “These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so”.
Whenever we hear preaching or teachings, we should live by the example of the Bereans.
They made sure to fact-check what they heard against the Scriptures. They always put the word of God above what they heard from men. They knew that the authority of the word of God was above the authority of men. They did not want to be deceived. This is one of the reasons why they were fair minded and searched the Scriptures.
God does not want us to be deceived. Therefore, God wants us to test everything. 1 Thessalonians 5:21 says “Test all things; hold fast what is good”.

(5) To Have The Mind of God You Must Be Born Again.
You cannot truly think with God unless you have the mind of Christ. Philippians 2:5 says “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus”
Being born again gives us access to the mind of God. Christians have personal fellowship and communion with God. Therefore we cannot know God’s mind unless we have fellowship with Him.
Becoming a Christian is the beginning of our journey to understanding God’s mind for our lives; our walk with Him and our relationships.
In John 15:5, Jesus says “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing”.

DO YOU HAVE THE MIND OF GOD? DO YOU KNOW GOD’S MIND ABOUT THE VARIOUS AREAS OF YOUR LIFE? ARE YOU A BORN AGAIN CHRISTIAN?

DO YOU WANT TO BE A CHRISTIAN or A FOLLOWER OF JESUS CHRIST???

1. ACKNOWLEDGE: “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). “God be merciful to me a sinner” (Luke 18:13).
You must acknowledge that you are a sinner and that you therefore need Jesus in your life.

2. REPENT: “Unless you repent you will all likewise perish” (Luke 13:3), “Repent therefore and be converted that your sins may be blotted out” (Acts 3:19)
Repenting means: to change your mind; a sincere turning away, in heart, mind and action;
Therefore God wants you to repent of sinful values and of sinful living. God wants you to decide to
follow Him and to make Jesus the Lord of your life.

3. CONFESSION: “If we confess our sins. He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9). “That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9)
God is a forgiving God. God will forgive any sin that you have done because Jesus died for ALL your sins and to set you free from the bondage of all types of sin in your life.

4. BELIEVE: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).
You must believe that ONLY Jesus can save you and restore your relationship with God. You must believe that Jesus is the ONLY way by which you can have everlasting life and escape from eternal separation from God. You must believe that Jesus died on the cross for you and resurrected from the grave.
“He came to His own, and His own did not receive him, But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name” (John 1:11-12)
By faith, You must receive Jesus as Your Lord & Savior and therefore; you become a child of God; you become born again; you become a Christian; you restore your broken relationship with God
