Shield of Faith – Armor of God

Ephesians 6:16 NKJV
Above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.
As a Christian you will realize that the devil will try to attack you in many different ways. However you must be equipped in Christ to overcome every attack.
Paul writes under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit that we must put on the shield of faith so that we may overcome the fiery darts of the wicked one.
What are these fiery darts? Well, I believe that examples of the devil’s fiery darts are such things as temptation, doubt, discouragement, fear, condemnation, false teachings, impure thoughts, hatred and the like. Darts or arrows are meant to puncture wholes in any part of your body and darts are most effective when they strike vital or sensitive organs, for example the heart or eyes. And if you are struck in the arm or the legs they may not totally destroy you, but they can slow your mobility and make you more vulnerable.
This is why FAITH is important and Paul writes that “ABOVE ALL” we should take the shield of faith. Faith in God is able to dispel all sorts of enemy attacks like fear, doubt, discouragement and the like.
Hebrews 11:6 NKJV
But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
In your walk with Christ, as a soldier of Christ, you must have faith in God. Without faith in God you have no foundation and you are very vulnerable to all sorts of attacks and enemy devises from false philosophies of life to limiting God’s move in your life. Therefore your faith in God and in God’s ability to work in your life is very important.
Romans 10:17 NKJV
So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
How do you take the shield of faith? Your faith comes by believing what God says; believing the word of God. When you read and meditate and believe in God’s word, you will increase your faith.
Your source of faith is not in yourself or in man, but your source of faith is in God.
Only God can defeat the enemies in your life, therefore your faith must be in God.
James 2:14-15 NKJV
What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him?
Your faith in God will ultimately lead you to perform faith-based actions. In other words, you walk the talk. Your behavior will show whether you have faith or not.
A number of times Jesus would heal people simply because they had faith. Jesus would reply and say “Your faith has made you well…” like the woman who touched the hem of Jesus’ garment (Matthew 9:20-22) and the Centurion whose servant was ill (Matthew 8:5-13)
Therefore you too are to have that same faith in God if you are to have victory over the enemy.
Matthew 17:20-21 NKJV
So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.
A mustard seed is a very small seed. It is one of the smallest seeds. However, Jesus says that you only need faith that is as small as a mustard seed.
God only needs a small amount of your faith for Him to do a great miracle in your life. God doesn’t look at your social position in society or what position you have in your church or how much money you have and neither does He look at how many sins you have committed in your life.
All that God needs is your faith – no matter how small it is. Have faith in God and He will do the rest.
Therefore in your battles, take up the shield of faith that you may overcome the enemy.
TODAY. Have faith in God.
