How To Stop Worrying

Did you know that according to certain experts, there are OVER 100 NEGATIVE symptoms of ANXIETY and WORRY? These symptoms can range from: numbness, chest tightness, feeling dizzy, pounding or racing heart, low energy to feeling like you are going to pass out or faint.
Anxiety and worry can make you ill.
The thing that is important to understand is that GOD didn’t physically create our body, mind and soul to become worried or anxious. We are just not made that way. Whenever we worry, we are actually starting a process of depreciating or damaging our body and mind. Worrying is ABNORMAL to our body, mind and soul hence we eventually begin to experience negative symptoms as a result.

Matthew 6:27 NKJV
“Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?”

Jesus was asking – what value do you add to your life when you worry? Will your problems magically disappear if you worried? Will the desires of your heart appear if you worried? Will you have more peace of mind if you worried?
Because worry and anxiety is a tool of the devil to get you to focus on your problems and challenges and NOT on God who is the ANSWER to your challenges and problems.

Philippians 4:6-7 NKJV
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

The first time I read Philippians 4:6,7 was when I was a young born again teenager. I was worrying about a lot of issues in my life at that time and I was led to this verse. I PRAYED, THANKED God, made my REQUESTS as per instruction in the scripture and as soon as I finished praying I felt an unexplainable PEACE just come inside of me. I knew it was the peace and presence of God inside of me and that God had just taught me a life lesson.
God’s formula for us to have peace or an anxiety-free life is that we bring EVERY issue to Him in prayer and that we also have a THANKFUL ATTITUDE inspite of our challenges.

Worrying is actually a form of meditation. Meditation requires that you think about a certain issue over and over again. Therefore worrying is a form of negative meditation. The only method of how to stop worrying is by meditating on godly thoughts and God’s promises.
Philippians 4:8,9 requires that we meditate positively on the things that God wants us to meditate on.

Philippians 4:8-9 NKJV
“Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy — meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.”

So after you have prayed and given your worries to the Lord, begin to continuously MEDITATE on whatever is true; meditate on whatever is noble; meditate on whatever is pure; meditate on whatever is lovely, meditate on whatever is of good report and meditate on whatever is praiseworthy.
In other words, replace your anxious thoughts with GOOD THOUGHTS.
Replace your anxious thoughts with GOD’s PROMISES, GOD’s WORD & GOD’s GOODNESS.
Replace your anxious thoughts by reminding yourself constantly that GOD LOVES YOU, He will never leave you nor forsake you and He wants the best for your life.

Life Application
So stop focusing on your worries – and start to focus on God and His goodness.
Don’t worry but seek FIRST the Kingdom of God and HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS, and the rest will be added.
Think great thoughts; Thoughts that are praiseworthy and meditate on them and on God’s promises.
