Is it Possible to Sell Your Soul to the Devil?

We hear of many music artists, actors, celebrities and even politicians who have allegedly sold their souls to the devil in exchange for fame, fortune and power.
But what does it mean: to sell your soul to the devil? Is it really possible for a person to sell his soul?

In Ezekiel 18:4 God says the following: Behold, all souls are Mine; the soul of the father as well as the soul of the son is Mine: the soul who sins shall die.

So according to God all human souls belong to God alone, because God is the Creator of humanity. There is no human soul that belongs to the devil and neither can the devil truthfully claim to own anyone’s soul.

In Matthew 10:28 Jesus says: And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear Him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

Therefore it is God Himself who ultimately decides what will happen to every human soul, because God is ultimately the source and Creator of all life.
So the devil cannot claim what does not belong to him.

However, even though satan cannot own anyone’s soul, it is possible that he can succeed in deceiving people into believing that he owns their souls, when in fact he does not.
In most cases, people who believe they have “sold” their souls are people who have made deliberate and conscious allegiance and even contracts within the occult or with demonic entities / spirits. They live in bondage.

So it is possible that a person can “sell his soul to the devil” in the sense that a person can choose to consciously give his allegiance and service to the devil or to anything that is satanic and demonic.
For example, it is believed that many people in the film and music industry have willingly given their life, allegiance and service to freemasonry, the illuminati, occultism, luciferianism and performing all kinds of demonic rituals in exchange for fame, wealth and power.
So instead of being dedicated to a life of godliness, there are people who willingly and consciously submit and dedicate themselves to following satanic practices or anything that is anti-God. Why? Because they believe that there is a personal benefit and also because they do not love the things of God.

In John 3:19, Jesus says the following: And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their deeds were evil.

So we live in a world where people literally love darkness and they love their evil deeds because they have dedicated themselves to such things. So even when people are presented with the light of Christ – they willingly choose darkness. Why? Because of the temptation for personal gain such as fame, wealth and even power.
So there are people who will use their free will to dedicate their entire life towards practicing evil beliefs and rituals in exchange for the wealth and pleasures of the world
In Matthew 16:26 Jesus says “For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his life? Or what shall a man give in return for his life?”

 

The Default Nature of Every Human Soul

It is important to note that the person who has allegedly “sold” his soul to the devil is not really different from the person who has never received Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. If they both do not accept Jesus Christ as Saviour, then both will experience the same fate when they die.

By default every person is a sinner (Romans 3:23) and every person who dies without believing and receiving Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour is condemned to enter hell.
So any soul that rejects Jesus Christ as Saviour will unfortunately face the wrath of God.

John 3:18 says: Whoever believes in Him (Christ) is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

1 John 5:12 says: Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.

By default every soul is a “son of disobedience” or a“child of wrath” until that person has believed in Jesus Christ as Saviour (Ephesians 2:2-3).
The reason is because every unsaved soul is automatically viewed as directly opposing God’s values and therefore opposing God Himself (Luke 11:23). 
James 4:4 says: … Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.

However, we become sons and daughters of God when we become born again Christians by trusting in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour.

Galatians 3:26 says: For in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith.

John 1:12 says: But to all who did receive Him, who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God,

By default every soul is a slave to sin, until we individually make the choice to follow Jesus Christ, and then we become slaves to righteousness because of the work of Christ in our life.
Romans 6:16-18 says: Do you not know that if you present yourselves to anyone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness? 17 But thanks be to God, that you who were once slaves of sin have become obedient from the heart to the standard of teaching to which you were committed, 18 and, having been set free from sin, have become slaves of righteousness.

 

We Are All Loyal To Something

Are you loyal to something good or are you loyal to something wicked? We are all loyal to something or to someone. We are all a slave to something. However, we cannot be loyal towards two different things at the same time or else we become double-minded because our loyalty would be divided.
For example, a man cannot be loyal to his wife and yet have another woman / mistress in his life; We cannot be loyal to God and yet serve other gods or idols at the same time; We cannot serve God and yet be loyal to money / mammon at the same time; We cannot be slaves to righteousness and yet be slaves to sin at the same time (Romans 6:16-18).

Joshua 24:15 says: And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

Matthew 6:24 says: No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.

Matthew 6:19-21 says: Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

 

Every Soul Has The Opportunity To Reconcile With God

Salvation is meant for everyone. Every human soul already belongs to God and every human soul has the opportunity to follow Christ as long as one is still alive on this earth. It is a deception to believe that satan can own your soul.
So if one had been dedicated to following sin and wickedness – then one still has an opportunity to switch sides and decide to follow God.
God does not desire to see anyone perish, but He desires to see all people repent and be reconciled to Him (2 Peter 3:9).
Even if one had dedicated his life to the occult; to a different religion; to atheism; or even to satanism – there is no sin that the blood of Jesus cannot wash away.
Jesus Christ paid for our sins on the cross; He was crucified for our sins and took the punishment that we deserved so that if we believe in Him, we would receive the free gift of salvation and eternal life.

Galatians 1:4 says that Jesus Christ gave Himself for our sins to deliver us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father

1 John 2:2 says that Jesus Christ is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world.

2 Corinthians 5:17-19 says: Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. 18 All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to Himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; 19 that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.

 

DO YOU WANT TO BE A CHRISTIAN or A FOLLOWER OF JESUS CHRIST???

1. ACKNOWLEDGE: “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).
This means that we have all broken God’s laws and God’s 10 Commandments like those mentioned in Exodus 20:1-17. For example, if you have told a lie; if you have stolen something; if you have lusted after somebody or if you have coveted. This means you are guilty of breaking at least one or more of God’s 10 Commandments. Breaking God’s commandments makes us sinners. The fact that we are sinners who have broken God’s law means that we are accountable to God who is the Lawgiver. Romans 6:23 says that “the wages of sin is death BUT the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord”
You must acknowledge that you are a sinner who has broken God’s commandments and that you therefore need Jesus in your life.

2. REPENT: “Unless you repent you will all likewise perish” (Luke 13:3), “Repent therefore and be converted that your sins may be blotted out” (Acts 3:19)
Repenting means: to change your mind; a sincere turning away, in heart, mind and action;
Therefore God wants you to repent of sinful values and of sinful living. God wants you to decide to
follow Him and to make Jesus the Lord of your life.

3. CONFESSION: “If we confess our sins. He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9). “That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9)
God is a forgiving God. God will forgive any sin that you have done because Jesus died for ALL your sins and to set you free from the bondage of all types of sin in your life.

4. BELIEVE: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).
You must believe that ONLY Jesus can save you and restore your relationship with God. You must believe that Jesus is the ONLY way by which you can have everlasting life and escape from eternal separation from God. You must believe that Jesus died on the cross for you and resurrected from the grave.
“He came to His own, and His own did not receive him, But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name” (John 1:11-12)
By faith, You must receive Jesus as Your Lord & Savior and therefore; you become a child of God; you become born again; you become a Christian; you restore your broken relationship with God
