Is Seeing, Believing?

John 20:29 NKJV
Jesus said to him, “Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

A skeptic who does not believe in God or the things of God will tell you “Seeing is believing. If I can’t see it then I don’t believe it exists”. A skeptic will want “proof” of God’s existence.
However the contradictory thing is that even a skeptic has faith.
Ask a skeptic if he has ever seen the wind or the air. Ask him if he has ever seen gravity or electricity. We see the effects of the wind but we do not see the wind. We benefit from breathing the air but we do not see it.
Radio, television, cellphone and satellite signals and waves are invisible but these gadgets are able to receive and detect the presence of these invisible waves and signals.
Therefore a Christian may not have physically seen God, but it does not mean that God does not exist.

Hebrews 11:3 NKJV
By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.

If a skeptic can believe in the wind, television waves, gravity etc, all of which are invisible, then the skeptic contradicts himself when he says that “seeing is believing” or when he wants “proof” of God’s existence.
God’s word says that people are without excuse because everybody has an opportunity to believe and indeed have understanding that God exists.

Romans 1:20 NLT
For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.

According to God’s word, the proof of God’s existence is therefore clearly seen according to what He has created. The earth was designed or created intelligently by an intelligent Being – by the Almighty God. His divine nature, His invisible qualities, His eternal power are seen through everything God has made and they give testimony to His existence.
If one cannot see the air you breath but yet benefit from the air – then the skeptic should know that it is possible to be benefiting from an invisible God even though you don’t see Him.

Hebrews 11:6 NKJV
But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
