Our Father … Give Us Our Daily Bread

Luke 11:2-3 NKJV
Our Father … Give us day by day our daily bread.

God is the source of everything that is good. Whether one chooses to believe in God or not, God will always be the Provider. God provides to both believers and unbelievers. God provides to both the good and the evil. Jesus said in Matthew 5:45 “…for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.”

There are some things in life that neither money nor fame or personal power can provide. Money for example cannot provide rain in a time of drought for example – only God can. Money cannot provide healing to a terminally ill person – but God can.

Therefore as Jesus taught the disciples to pray, He wanted us to learn to always and everyday pray for God to provide us with our daily needs.
I believe that praying for daily bread is not just limited to material needs and desires. However our daily bread can be extended to anything that gives us physical, mental and spiritual sustenance and edification for the glory of God.
Just as the physical body needs nutritious food on a daily basis, therefore your spirit needs God’s word on a daily basis in order to keep spiritually strong.
Therefore, everyday we must look towards God as the source of our physical and spiritual health and nourishment.
Everyday we must ask God and trust Him daily that He will supply our daily needs.

Luke 11:9-12 NKJV
“So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. If a son asks for bread from any father among you, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a fish?”

TODAY. Pray, believe and receive all the daily bread that God wants to supply you with.
