Whose God is the One True God?

We live in a world where there are many religions, many cultures, and many gods that are worshipped.
It is believed that more than 300 million gods are worshipped around the world.
The question however is: Whose god is the one true god and is there more than one god?

Isaiah 44:6 NKJV
Thus says the Lord, the King of Israel, And his Redeemer, the Lord of hosts: ‘I am the First and I am the Last; Besides Me there is no God

Psalms 86:8 NKJV
Among the gods there is none like You, O Lord; Nor are there any works like Your works.

From the Bible verses mentioned above, we learn that there is only one God and that among the “gods” there is none like the one true God.
So whose god is the one true God? The Bible says that the one true God is the Creator of the entire universe (Isaiah 42:5). The one true God is self-existent (Exodus 3:14) and there is no other like Him.
Therefore any other god who is not the one true God of the Bible is a false god that has been created either by deceived men or by evil spirits.

The question then is: How is the one true God different from the false gods?

WHO IS THE ONE TRUE GOD?

According to the Bible the one true God differs from false gods in the following ways:

1. God’s Attributes Are Different From the False Gods
Unlike the false gods of other religions the one true God of the Bible has attributes that make Him stand out against the false gods. Among other things, God is eternal (Psalm 90:2); God is self-existent (Exodus 3:14), God is all powerful (Job 11:7-11); God is omni-present (Psalm 139:7); God is omniscient (Isaiah 40:13,14); God cannot change (Hebrews 13:8); God cannot lie (Numbers 23:19); God is good (Psalm 145:9); God is love (1 John 4:8); God is gracious (Ephesians 2:8,9); God is life and the sustainer of life (John 1:3,4).

2. God is Triune
The Bible describes the one true God as being 3 divine persons who are one and share the same essence and nature in one God. The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are three in one. Matthew 3:16,17 shows the Trinity together and in Matthew 28:19,20 Christians are commanded to make disciples and baptize in the name of the Father, the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

3. God is Personal & Seeks a Personal Relationship with Mankind
The one true God seeks a personal relationship with mankind. God created people in His own image (Genesis 1:27). The animals were not created in God’s image therefore only people have the unique ability to fellowship with God.
The one true God wants to be known by His creation. He wants people to know Him intimately. The one true God reveals Himself through His word, the Bible and He has also revealed Himself through Jesus Christ.
In Jeremiah 33:3 God says “Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know”.
In Jeremiah 29:11-13 God says “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. 12 Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. 13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart”.
In Revelation 3:20-21 Jesus says “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me”.

4. God Seeks to Save Mankind By His Grace
People who worship false gods tend to believe that salvation is by personal works or behavioral merit. Through the worship of false gods salvation is dependent on one’s personal deeds and on how “good” a person has been in his life.
However, salvation through the one true God is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:8,9). There is only one way to Heaven – that way is Jesus Christ (John 14:6).
Through the one true God salvation is a gift; it is not a reward (Ephesians 2:8; Romans 6:23).
Grace is when God gives us what we don’t deserve. Salvation is a gift we don’t deserve. However, because of the love of the one true God, we have eternal life through His begotten Son, Jesus Christ (John 3:16).

5. God Became A Man / Flesh To Pay For The Sins of Mankind
John 1:1-14 says: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God… And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
1 Timothy 3:16 says: And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh, Justified in the Spirit, Seen by angels, Preached among the Gentiles, Believed on in the world, Received up in glory.

There is no false god who cares or loves his own creation enough to save them from eternal punishment. There is no false god who offers salvation as a free gift. There is no false god who shows the kind of grace that is offered by the one true God.
The Bible tells us that the one true God became flesh in order to die on the cross for the sins of man. Man is a sinner by nature (Romans 3:23). The wages of sin is death or eternal separation from God (Romans 6:23). The Word, Jesus Christ became came that we may have eternal life and escape eternal hell (John 10:10).

Which God Will You Choose?

1 Kings 18:21 NKJV
And Elijah came to all the people, and said, “How long will you falter between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him.” But the people answered him not a word.

Even though many people follow many gods – there is only ONE TRUE GOD.
He has revealed Himself in the Bible; He has reveals Himself to His followers and Jesus Christ is the exact representation of who God is.

The worship of false gods is idolatry and it ultimately leads to eternal separation from God. Luke 4:8 says: And Jesus answered and said to him, “Get behind Me, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’
We are to only worship and serve the one true God alone. Any other gods are false gods.
Mankind therefore has a choice. The one true God does not force people to worship Him. He has given people the free will to choose Him. However, there are consequences to making the wrong choice.
Choosing the one true God means choosing eternal life – but choosing false gods means eternal suffering (Deuteronomy 30:19; Joshua 24:15).

DO YOU WANT TO BE A CHRISTIAN or A FOLLOWER OF JESUS CHRIST???

1. ACKNOWLEDGE: “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). “God be merciful to me a sinner” (Luke 18:13).
You must acknowledge that you are a sinner and that you therefore need Jesus in your life.

2. REPENT: “Unless you repent you will all likewise perish” (Luke 13:3), “Repent therefore and be converted that your sins may be blotted out” (Acts 3:19)
Repenting means: to change your mind; a sincere turning away, in heart, mind and action;
Therefore God wants you to repent of sinful values and of sinful living. God wants you to decide to
follow Him and to make Jesus the Lord of your life.

3. CONFESSION: “If we confess our sins. He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9). “That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9)
God is a forgiving God. God will forgive any sin that you have done because Jesus died for ALL your sins and to set you free from the bondage of all types of sin in your life.

4. BELIEVE: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).
You must believe that ONLY Jesus can save you and restore your relationship with God. You must believe that Jesus is the ONLY way by which you can have everlasting life and escape from eternal separation from God. You must believe that Jesus died on the cross for you and resurrected from the grave.
“He came to His own, and His own did not receive him, But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name” (John 1:11-12)
By faith, You must receive Jesus as Your Lord & Savior and therefore; you become a child of God; you become born again; you become a Christian; you restore your broken relationship with God

Why Not Make Your Eternal Decision NOW?

We become born again Christians by GRACE through FAITH or TOTAL TRUST in Jesus Christ as our Lord & Savior (Galatians 3:26) & (Ephesians 2:8,9). Salvation is a FREE gift received through FAITH in Christ.

PLEASE NOTE: You can choose to pray in your own words. This prayer is a sample prayer and it is only an EXPRESSION of your faith, belief & trust in Jesus. Salvation is by GRACE through FAITH or BELIEVING in Christ Jesus as your Lord & Saviour.

“Lord Jesus, I thank You for Your love. I thank You that You died on the cross for me and resurrected so that I may have life through You.
I confess Lord that I have sinned against You and today I ask You to forgive me of all of my sins, past present and future.
I repent of all of my sins and I ask You to cleanse me Jesus.
Thank You for forgiving my sins.
From this moment, come into my life Lord Jesus & take full control of my life. I want to follow You Jesus and I want to follow Your ways. Save me and from today, make me the person You want me to be.
I receive You Lord Jesus right now by faith. I trust You as my Lord and Savior – Amen”
