Watch and Pray

Luke 21:29-32 NKJV
Then He spoke to them a parable: “Look at the fig tree, and all the trees. When they are already budding, you see and know for yourselves that summer is now near. So you also, when you see these things happening, know that the kingdom of God is near.”
Do you know the condition of your physical and spiritual environment? When you pray to the Lord, it is always important to be spiritually alert. God wants us as His children, to know what is happening not only in the physical realm, but He also wants us to be aware of what is happening in the spiritual realm. Having such knowledge of both realms will help us to pray appropriately and also to speak and pray God’s will and purpose into our own lives and into the lives of others.
Luke 21:36 NKJV
Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.
To “watch” means to be alert; to be observant; to be prepared and ready.
If you are going to benefit from prayer, you must also be watchful. Prepare yourself and be observant to what God is doing regarding the issues that you have prayed about.
Be spiritually alert to the move of God in your life, in your town, in your country and in the world.
Watch to see what it is that God is doing, so that you may not be caught by surprise or caught unaware due to lack of insight and a lack of knowledge. When you have prayed, watch to see what positive and Godly role you can play in the situations and environment around you.
In Luke 21:7-36, Jesus spoke to His disciples about the Signs of the Times and the End of Age. He also told them about the events and the tribulation that would occur before His second coming. He ended by urging His disciples to “Watch therefore and pray always…” because “the Day will come unexpectedly”.
As Christians, the Lord does not want us to be ignorant to our environment.
In your walk with God – are you being watchful? Are you alert to what is going on in your personal life? Do you know where God is taking you and what God wants to do in your life?
If not – you need to watch and pray. Be alert. Be prepared. Be ready.
